Project Kamil
We met Kamil during our search to help the less privileged. Kamil was born on the 27th of April, 1990 in Poland. Kamil was married and had a daughter. They lived in a proper house. After working for a certain company for a while, Kamil lost his job and thereby his only income. After losing his income, Kamil was not able to provide for his family. Eventually, they got evicted from their house. At this point, Kamil decided to come to the Netherlands and seek for a job here. With the help of his friend, Kamil came here on the 2nd of May, 2018. This friend was arrested by the police for unknown reasons, which resulted to having lost contact with him. The friend of Kamil was the one that promised to help him with a new resource of money and would provide shelter for him. This could not proceed anymore.
Whilst being in the Netherlands, Kamil got robbed of his telephone and his identity card. He could not contact anyone from that moment, and he had to wander on the streets. Kamil had to sleep outside for a couple days and even received a fine from the police. On the 11th of May, Kamil was walking in Kraaiennest, a street in Amsterdam Zuid Oost, when he met the members of The Rock Foundation. The Rock Foundation is a non-profit organisation that was founded to help the less privileged in the Netherlands. The grace of God permits us to help the needy, like Jesus did. After talking with Kamil and listening to his story, we offered to help him. The first we did was buying a new telephone for him so he could at least get in touch with his family members again. We then bought him food and other primary goods. After that, we gave him some money so he could visit a hotel to stay there for a few days. We are still in contact with Kamil and our goal is to help him find a job, so that he can leave his past behind and focus on the future.
As Christians, we must be capable of taking care of people who are in need. This we can accomplish by giving them substance, feeding them, clothing them and supporting them.”
Always give without remembering and always receive without forgetting.
If we don’t educate ourselves on the things that happen around us, we shall never be capable of doing more for the community, because of lack of knowledge.
The Human contribution is the essential ingredient. It is only in the giving of oneself to others that we truly live.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Everywhere in life, the true question is not what we gain, but what we do.”
The right words can make a difference when talking to someone living on the streets. Always remember that we all need love and kindness.
Helping one person might not change te world, but it could change the world for one person and that person can change the world of another person and so goes on.
People do not notice whether it is winter or summer when they are happy.
Helping others decreases your stress levels and improves your mood. When you help others, it increases the endorphin levels in your body which makes you feel happy from the inside.
